Knowing how to use decorative concrete products is as important as having the right product. Moon Decorative offers a variety of solutions from hands-on concrete training classes, to video or print.
Are you a seasoned contractor who just needs to brush up on skills or learn some new tricks of the trade? Maybe you are a DIY kinda person. Either way, we have classes both for the Contractor, and the DIY Homeowners.
Concrete Countertop’s That Stand The Test Of Time
March 2nd – 3rd, 2023
Concrete countertops are everywhere from the kitchen to around the pool. Learn how to be a player in this increasingly popular market. This 2-day class using enCOUNTER® Professional Concrete Mix will prepare you to enter this growing and lucrative market. The class will teach both cast-in-place and pre-cast methods using custommade vessel sinks, under-mount and surface-mounting methods. Reinforcement, forming, coloring, protective coatings, and metallic effects will be taught. This hands on class will cover all aspects of constructing a concrete countertop. Come prepared to get your hands in the mud. Lunch included both days.

Avoid The Tear Out, OVERLAY Instead
February 2nd – 3rd, 2023

Learn how to save existing concrete with overlay options. Exterior renovation with stampable overlays using seamless texture stamps, borders and pattern stamps. Spray Base, Stamp Mix, Spray Knock Downs, and Skim Coat techniques will be taught. We will teach how to make pattern designs using reinforced filament tape and Artcrete Stencils. Lunch included both days.

DIY Acid Stain Tips-n-Tricks

This basic class is designed for the DIY’er who wants to learn all the tips-n-tricks before venturing out on their own floor. Learn how to prep your floor, including mastic and stain removal so the floor is ready to receive the stain. Class will explore basic techniques, as well as a few advanced techniques that will give your floor a unique look. Once students are done with this class, they will be ready to tackle their own floor.
Time: 8:00 am to noon.

Coating, Making The Floor Look Unique
May 11th – 12th, 2023
This 2-day class is packed with valuable information when it comes to understanding different coating options. We will teach floor forensics, surface preparation, and proper selection of SS Specialties Systems to meet specific project conditions. Classroom time as well as plenty of hands-on time makes this class a valuable tool for the growth of your business and a confidence boost in product knowledge. Learn how to use SS Polyaspartic with chip flakes, 100% Epoxy Metallic floors, Urethanes (both Water Based & Solvent), and SS Acrylics. Lunch is included both days.

Fresh Pour Class
April 28th – 29th, 2023
This class is designed to help the contractor take their work to the next level of expertise and to a bigger payday. Participants will learn the tricks and methods required to take plain concrete to outstanding concrete $uccess. This 2-day class will cover additives that allow the contractor to control the fresh pour during challenging weather conditions. Learn how to perform a slump test, add integral color to the truck, allow the concrete to flow, and the work begins: screed, float, pick up the edger groover, and prepare to stamp. Color Hardener and Antique Release applications will be demonstrated. This class is designed to assist the contractor in advancing the art of the fresh pour and take any installation beyond the “old broom finish.” Sealers, water repellents, and color washes will be discussed and demonstrated. Lunch included both days.

EZ Polish Concrete Floors
January 12th – 13th, 2023
Polished concrete is becoming one of the most sought-after concrete surfaces because of its beauty, durability, light reflectivity and ease of maintenance. It’s a wonderful alternative to marble or granite floors and offers a similar variated, natural and mirror-like finish. In this 2-day training class, you will learn a 3-step process to polish your concrete floors. We’ll be using the EZ Polish system with all essential equipment and tooling to demonstrate all steps from grinding to polishing to guarding and protecting your final finish.Lunch included both days

Learn the many and diverse uses of the MDC Vertical Mix: how to prep, reinforce, apply, stamp, carve and color. We will explore the difference between stamping vertical and hand carving vertical mix. Different tools will be used so that features will look realistic and natural. Lots of tips and tricks will be shared. Class participant will build boulders and outdoor kitchen facades. The hands-on experience received in class will give you the confidence to try these techniques on your next job. Lunch included both days

How to get a free class: Class discount is given when participants buy 3 classes and receive the 4th class free!Location: All classes are held at Moon Decorative, 121 NE 40th Street, in Oklahoma City.
Reservations required: A spot is reserved with payment.
Cancellation policy: Moon Decorative requires 14 days advanced notice for cancellations in order to fill any last minute positions left open. Any cancellations, including no-shows received after the 14-day cut off period will be charged $50 per class or $15.00 for any homeowners class.
Class Size: Is limited in order to maximize the hands-on learning experience. Be sure and sign up early to ensure a spot.
Trainers: Moon Decorative’s head trainer, Tim Frazier will be lead trainer for our classes. Other trainers include Dave Handy and Rick White.
Purchases: Our training is far more informational and educational than sales oriented. However, we are available to assist you in choosing materials after the class.
