DOUG BANNISTER INDUCTED INTO CONCRETE HALL OF FAME

Oklahoma City, OK—March 31, 2010—Doug Bannister, president of The Stamp Store in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was recently inducted into the Decorative Concrete Hall of Fame in a ceremony held in Phoenix, Arizona. Bent Mikkelsen, publisher and CEO of Concrete Decor Magazine, presented the award, which recognized Mr. Bannister’s contributions to the Decorative Concrete Industry. The Decorative Concrete Hall of Fame honors individuals and companies, who have helped to shape the art and direction of the Decorative Concrete Industry by making continuing contributions to its growth and acceptance through their commitment to excellence and innovation. Mr. Mikkelsen prefaced the presentations by saying, “These awards showcase the people who embody the best of decorative concrete, and Mr. Doug Bannister is one of the most active professionals committed to decorative concrete training. Hundreds of contractors have benefited from his experience by attending training programs or deminars in which he has passed on his expertise both in terms of the hard facts and the soft side of concrete, the “Science of Collecting the Check”.

Bannister began his concrete career in 1962 as a mason and concrete finisher. Twenty years later he began stamping concrete and perusing Decorative Concrete installations in residential, municipal; and commercial markets. In 1995, Bannister founded The Stamp Store, a retail decorative supply house based in Oklahoma City. He has developed a number of innovative products designed for the Decorative Industry such as floor treatments, stains, dyes, sealers, coatings and enCOUNTER, a professional concrete system. Bannister became one of the first concrete supply stores to use the Internet to promote and sell decorative concrete products.

Throughout his career, Bannister has worked tirelessly to improve standards of professionalism in the industry. In 2007, Bannister, an ACI Certified Flatwork Finisher, was named as one of The Industry's Ten Most Influential People by Concrete Construction magazine. He was one of the founding members of American Society of Concrete Contractors, Decorative Concrete Council and served as Council Director. Bannister co-authored the book, "Casting Concrete Countertops," published in 2008 by Schiffer.

Bannister, continues teaching and training a number of Decorative classes each month at The Stamp Store in Oklahoma City.
