Methods for Adding Wall Texturing to Vertical Concrete

Using concrete as a wall finish is a great option for many home and business owners. With a bit of planning and creativity, you can bring the same visual interest usually seen in flatwork to your walls. By using our SS Vertical System, you can easily transform the look and feel of your indoor or outdoor space by using one or a variety of wall texturing methods.

Stamping

Stamping is one of the most popular methods used for adding texture to walls due to its ability to produce consistent results in a shorter amount of time. The stamps used for vertical concrete provide the same durability and deep texture as those used for floor stamping, but are much more flexible and smaller. These can be used for all over application or for random placement depending on the look you are trying to achieve. They will produce deeper, more defined patterns, and often require additional touch-ups and details that will be added later. The Stamp Store carries a variety of vertical stamps that are designed for use immediately after laying the SS Vertical Mix to help you achieve many different wall textures.

Texturing Skins

Another option for wall texturing is to use skins. These skins are much thinner than the stamps, and result in a much less defined design in the concrete. In many cases, these skins are used to add slight texture before using stamps or hand carving the surface. Skins can also allow you to create a variety of unique patterns and designs so you can add even more interest to your vertical concrete pieces.

Hand Carving

Hand carving is the most time consuming method of adding wall texturing, but it opens up a wealth of possibilities. With this method, you are limited only by your ability and imagination. It allows you to produce deeper grout lines than what are possible with stamps, or you can use it to add more intricate details after using a skin or vertical stamp. Hand carving is also a great way of correcting any imperfections that may have occurred during the stamping or skinning process, allowing you to create a true piece of art on your vertical concrete. You can even use this method to direct the flow of water for fountains or sculptures in your design.

Coloring

When creating vertical concrete designs, you will likely want to add color to ensure the best look once it is completed. Our SS Vertical Color can be used as a base or antique color for new or old concrete. With 24 different color options, it allows you to breathe even more life into your designs and creations, ensuring that your vertical concrete looks better than you ever thought possible.

Wall texturing is a great way to dress up any indoor or outdoor vertical concrete. If you are interested in finding out more about the possibilities provided by vertical concrete, make sure to check out one of our upcoming classes to learn more.
